Addressing financial instability in nonprofit organizations

Did you know that four of nonprofit leader's top five challenges are revenue-related?

The constant financial pressure and sector norms that restrict operational investment lead to fundraising stress and under-investment in operations.

Without leadership alignment on revenue, short-term financial health and long-term financial sustainability are difficult to achieve.

How it works

Fuelworks is a structured series of workshops grounded in revenue modeling, revenue strategy, organizational design, resource allocation, and revenue culture.

  • Weekly 2-hour live virtual workshops over 4 or 6 weeks

  • Up to five members of the organization’s leadership team

  • Workshops are held in cohorts of six to eight similar organizations

  • Facilitated by experts with rich experience in senior leadership roles in non-profit and for-profit organizations

The Revenue Capacity Framework

To help organizations adopt a more strategic approach to revenue, Revjen created a structured and comprehensive framework, called the Revenue Capacity Framework

It’s helpful to describe this framework by comparing it to the construction of a house. The Revenue Infrastructure — the foundation of the house — is the most consequential part of this Revenue Capacity Framework, and the one that typically gets the least attention.

The “foundation” is where our work centers in Fuelworks, and where the organization builds revenue capacity. Organizations are then better equipped to build the “walls” of the house (focused on revenue management) and “roof” of the house (focused on individual revenue skill sets).
